Checking for moth larvae on the back and front of the carpets is always a good idea. Look for items that resemble spider webs or sticky lint on the back of the rug. Examine the fibers on the face to check if any have been chewed away or if there are any divots. White areas where the foundation is showing through, as well as weakening of the fibers, are signs of moth damage.
If the rug is indeed 100 percent wool, the bugs will consume it completely.
